Read MorePeople are invited to attend National Museums Liverpool’s dementia awareness programme, House of Memories. The programme is being supported by the Department of Health. The training is aimed at those who support people living with dementia in the health, and social care sector. The free one-day training programme will run on: 11 and 12 March 2014 – Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery 18 and 19 March 2014 – Leicester Guildhall 24 and 25 March 2014 – Wollaton Hall, Nottingham (booked up) Overwhelmingly, participants report that the training has increased their awareness and understanding of dementia, and helped them to see those living with the condition differently. Read MoreDudley Council will launch its dementia friendly community app at a special theatre performance about the life of someone living with memory loss. The new app is designed to give everyone the knowledge and confidence to support someone with dementia. It had been produced by the Dudley Council’s dementia gateway service in partnership with community interest company, Equip 4 Change. People will be able to download the app from the council’s website to their smart phone or other device. The app will be launched during a special performance of Finding Joy, a funny and moving play performed by award winning mask and mime company, Vamos on Wednesday February 26 from 8pm at the Cornbow Hall in Halesowen. Anyone who has used services at Russells Hall Hospital, Corbett Outpatient Centre and Guest Outpatient Centre are urged to complete an online survey and share their experience of the service. People are also invited to attend a focus group facilitated by Disability Rights UK and Dudley Centre for Inclusive Living on Friday February 28 from 2 to 4pm (people are asked to arrive for 1.30pm).
