Dudley Community Information Points are launched

A brand new network of community information points which will be located across Dudley borough has been officially launched. The information points are staffed by trained information champions. They will give local residents easy, local, face to face access to current information about health, wellbeing and social care services and support, as well as information about benefits and debt support that is available. Dudley Council has teamed up with Healthwatch Dudley and Dudley Citizens Advice Bureau, together with other local organisations and charities, to form the network of community information points. The aim is to help residents find information and support locally in a worry and hassle free way. This should also help people avoid getting into crisis situations. Community information points will be located in places which people already visit to get information or service, such as libraries, pharmacies, churches and community groups. The network was officially launched on Friday 26 September at Brierley Hill Civic Hall. Over one hundred and fifty people attended the launch from a whole range of organisations which are involved in the network. Councillor Steve Waltho, Deputy Mayor, said: “I’m thrilled that we are supporting our residents to find trusted, up to date information in their local area, exactly when they need it. The network should help people avoid getting into crisis, signposting to the correct services and supporting people along the way. The new network is a true partnership of Dudley Council together with other local organisations, working together to provide joined up support for local residents. The network reflects our commitment to supporting local communities, as part of our role as a community council”. Residents will soon be able to find their local community information point by visiting www.dudley.gov.uk/communityinfopoint. In the meantime, to find out more about the community information point network people can contact Melissa Guest at Healthwatch Dudley on 03000 111 00, melissa@healthwatchdudley.co.uk.  ...
