National research suggests that breast cancer is the most common cancer in women who have migrated to the UK.

CfED (Centre for Equality and Divesity) with support from Dudley’s public health team has been working with a group of women from different nationalities on a project called ‘breaking the barriers of silence.’

The project focus had been to explore cultural barriers and reasons for low take up of services relating to breast and cervical cancer and to provide training to a group of women to increase their knowledge and identify approaches they could take to raise awareness amongst other women in their community.  A series of posters have also been designed which will be widely circulated to raise awareness of cancer .

The posters will be launched at an event on Wednesday March 12 from 7 to 8.30pm (a free buffet will be served from 6.30pm) at Dudley College, Broadway Campus, Dudley.  People are invited to attend the launch and find out more about the project.   To confirm your attendance at the event call 01384 456166 or email anna.wilkes@cfed.org.uk
