Mental Health Forum: The positive power of peer support

Posted by on June 8, 2017 in Active & Supportive Communities, Information & Advice | 0 comments

Please see attached poster promoting our upcoming Mental Health Forum on Thursday 22 June. The mental health forum, which takes place quarterly, will be held at Forest Arts Centre, Hawbush Road, Walsall, WS3 1AG at 11am – 1pm.

The focus will be on peer support for those with mental health issues, the development of personal/life skills and the positive impact of healthy employment. Following a short film to open the event, attendees will hear from a service user and gain their perspective on peer support and how it was beneficial to their recovery process. The Trust’s employment service will discuss the benefits of employment/training, ending with an overview on how the Trust assists with the development of peer support for its patients. Some service users who attend the Trust’s peer support groups will give a short presentation on the variety of support that they have received and how this has aided their recovery. A free lunch will be provided.

We’d appreciate it if you could advertise this to your staff, stakeholders and/or service users via your social media pages, website or newsletters. We also have hard copy versions of this poster so please let me know if you would like any.

If you wish to attend, please email or call 01384 325015. If you would like to have a stall to promote your service, resources or support, please contact Tracy Cross at or call 01384 324531.
