Mindful Gifts -enabling people with dementia access meaningful activities
Local community interest company and recent recipient of the Dudley Community enterprise Fund, Mindful Gifts helps people with dementia to access meaningful activities.
Founder, Vicki Phipps came up with a few ideas of new products for people with dementia. She also identified
that more people with dementia should be taking part in adult appropriate activities. She began research in April 2013 for suitable products for people with dementia.
Appropriate products were identified and suppliers were contacted including companies in the USA as well as the UK.
Mindful Gifts website www.mindfulgifts.co.uk went live in July 2013. There are currently 50 different activities to
choose from and over 10 products are currently being tested.
As Mindful Gifts has developed from initially selling gifts & activities, it was felt appropriate that services should be delivered
through an alternative arm. In April 2014 Mindful Support was born to deliver the Peer Support groups and Life Story Workshops as well as any new services.
Mindful Gifts operates for the benefit of the community rather than for personal gain.
