Rough sleepers estimate by Dudley Council – national requirement

Posted by on November 6, 2014 in Active & Supportive Communities | 0 comments

Dudley Council will be conducting a rough sleepers estimate tonight (6th November). We are required to report the number of rough sleepers to the Government. As a Council employee, you can help us to get the estimate as accurate as possible.

If you are travelling within the borough tonight and you see somebody sleeping rough please report the description of the person and details of the location to Jo Forbes (joanne.forbes@dudley.gov.uk) 01384 815081

Please note that for the purposes of the Government’s estimate we can only record people who are:

  • sleeping in the open air (such as on the streets, in tents, doorways, parks, bus shelters etc)
  • About to bed down (sitting on/in or standing next to their bedding)
  • People in buildings or other places not designed for habitation (such as stairwells, sheds, car parks, cars etc)

We will try to follow-up any information that is provided and visit the sites to see if we can help anyone that is identified. We will offer help and assistance whether they meet the Government’s definition or not.
