Successful Individual Employer and PA event
A successful morning event was held for individual employers and PAs Saturday 26th April at Queens Cross Network -15 individual employers and 5 PAs attended.
The IMPACT group were fortunate to have David Ashley from Fish insurance at the event who gave some valuable training on how to be a good employer. The feedback was that his session was relevant, enjoyable and useful so we hope to arrange more training opportunities for individual employers in the future.
The IMPACT group , (who is made up of Black Country Partnership for Care, user led organisation, Disability in Action, A4e, Idea for all, Local Support Team , Skills for Care, Dudley CIL and local personal assistants) provided personal assistants and people who employ personal assistants an opportunity to discuss all things social care.
An alternative therapist provided individual reiki/head and shoulder/hand and foot massage sessions on to 8 employers and PAs. Many said it was worth attending for the benefits of the therapy alone!
There were also opportunities to explore the employer/PA relationship together through some exercises to stimulate discussion. An activity tree for employers and their PAs was also created as part of the session.
A big thank you to Karen and Michelle from Telecare who gave up their Saturday morning to promote the telecare equipment available, and a particularly big thank you to Disability in Action for Hosting the event and arranging the lunch.
Feedback comments included:
“nice to meet people in similar circumstances as myself. The massage was very, very good!”
