Volunteers wanted for befriending service

Volunteers are being sought to join a new service offering support to vulnerable people throughout Dudley borough.

The aim of the befriending service, which has been developed by Dudley Council’s housing support team, is to provide one to one and group assistance to housing tenants who are lonely, isolated or facing a difficult time.

The scheme intends to help people gain a more positive outlook by becoming more involved in society – for instance attending a new group, gaining a new interest or making new friends.

Volunteers provide friendly, informal support by forming partnerships with the users.  Whenever possible, a befriender is matched with someone with the same interests.
