TWO FORTHCOMING LONDON COURSES FROM DEMENTIA PATHFINDERS One-day training course ‘Yoga & Wellbeing for People with Dementia’ Tuesday 27th September 2016 – London This one-day training course is suitable for family and formal caregivers, yoga teachers, psychologists, therapists, support workers and anyone working with people with dementia or acquired brain injury. Prior yoga experience is not necessary. In order to appreciate the benefits of yoga for people with dementia, it is important to experience the practice of gentle yoga postures and movements in a mindful way. The symptoms which cause distress and challenges in caregiving can be relieved through mindful yoga, adapted to the needs of people with progressive and fluctuating cognitive impairment. The course is also suitable for people experienced in the practice of yoga who are working with people with a diagnosis of dementia and would like to understand more about living with dementia and explore ways in which they can adapt their teaching for this client group. In the following article, Clare Morris describes how yoga can help in forming therapeutic partnerships, supporting anxious and disoriented people to make sense of the world around them. How yoga can promote therapeutic relationships For full course information, dates, price and details on how to book, please click here: Yoga & Wellbeing About the trainer: Clare Morris Clare has a background in Speech & Language Therapy and is a UKCP registered psychotherapist.
