Dudley Council’s Community Enabling Service has, this month launched the ‘Pleased to Meet You’ campaign which is about helping older people to stay positive in later life.

It is estimated that there are approximately 32,000 over the age of 60 who are said to be lonely or isolated in Dudley. Evidence shows that being lonely has the same negative impact on health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Pleased to Meet You is about helping older people to stay positive while providing a listening ear to them find enjoyment and a purpose in later life. Together, we can help overcome the fear of stepping into the community you want to be involved in, or even create something new.

For those people who wish to stay at home but would appreciate regular contact they can also call our Pleased To Meet you telephone line for a chat.
